Know Your Rights & Addison Body Shop Warranty
Colorado revised statute (C.R.S.10-4-618) states, “Insurer or its agent …shall not …use disincentives to discourage a beneficiary or claimant from using a repair business…”
This statute was enacted in part because one insurance company had set up its own body shop; a clear conflict of interest in the opinion of the legislature.
The law states further that an insurance company CANNOT:
- Require appraisals or repairs be made by a specified repair business.
- Use inducement by incentives or disincentives to persuade an insured or claimant to use a particular repair facility except that the insurance company’s guarantee is not considered inducement by incentive.
- Misinform an insured or claimant to induce the use of a particular repair business
The law states that an insurer SHALL:
- Orally or in writing disclose to an insured or claimant that they may freely choose any repair business
- Assume all reasonable costs sufficient to pay for the insured’s or claimant’s repairs less any applicable deductible or reduction for comparative negligence
Insurance companies may offer you repair facilities other than Addison Auto Center because Addison Auto Center is not currently involved in their Direct Repair Program. The insurance company may tell you that if you do not use one of their repair facilities on their direct repair program, they will not guarantee the repairs. Insurance companies do not repair vehicles; therefore a guarantee from a reputable repair company, with longevity, is what you should require.

Collision Repair Limited Warranty Agreement
Except for rust repair, said
shop warrants all repairs on the aforementioned repair order number
for as long as long as you own the vehicle, against defects in workmanship.
Defects in parts and materials will be subject to the terms as extended
by each manufacturer or vendor. In addition, all refinish work performed
under the aforementioned repair order is subject to the terms of this
warranty for as long as you own the vehicle.
The undersigned certifies that your vehicle was repaired using the latest
techniques, and that the repairs and refinish work meet generally accepted
standards for appearance and safe, proper repair as recognized within
the collision repair industry. Automotive Service Association member-shops
all over the country take pride in their workmanship as well as their
reputation; therefore, if you should have a problem with any of the
repairs made to your vehicle, please return it to the shop listed above
for inspection.
WARRANTY AUTHORIZED BY ADDISON AUTO REPAIR & BODY SHOP
A. Warranty Terms 1. This warrant covers material and labor to correct any defect in workmanship arising from repairs and refinishing performed under the original repair order. It does not cover incidental losses, loss of earnings, per diem expenses, or other claims of any nature. Shop's obligations under this warranty are limited to replacing or repairing defective parts or material under the manufacturers/vendors warranty and correction necessary workmanship, including refinishing. 2. This limited warranty is only extended to the customer listed on the reverse side of this document and is not transferable. 3. The work performed could fail due to no fault of the repairing facility. Adjacent or related parts to the repaired areas could fail, causing damage to the original repair. Under these circumstances this warranty will not apply. B. How To Obtain Service 1. Take vehicle back to the original repair shop whenever possible. 2. The itemized copy of the repair bill must be kept with this warranty and presented to the repairing facility. |
